Job Title: SEMH TEACHING ASSISTANT PRIMARY

Location: Washington

Salary: £75 to £110 per day

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with a dynamic primary school in Washington. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are patient, empathetic, committed and passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students in developing their confidence, skills and independence within a nurturing environment. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, your contribution will be vital in creating a positive and inclusive learning experience. Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant Primary:

• Help in the classroom and offer SEMH-related support to children.
• Work together with educators to create individualised lesson plans that are based on the needs of each student.
• Establish a welcoming, inclusive classroom atmosphere where kids experience security and encouragement.
• Assist kids in developing their personal hygiene and life skills.
• Keep lines of communication open and strong with teachers, parents and external professionals.
• Encourage a welcoming and caring atmosphere to aid in the emotional health of your kids.

Requirements of the SEMH Teaching Assistant Primary:

  • Previous experience working with students or in a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting.
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with students and staff.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the educational and emotional needs of students with SEMH.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
