Salary: £80 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking for a committed and empathetic 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join an outstanding school in Harlow. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of students with special educational needs (SEN). Working with the teacher, you will assist with developing appropriate resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies to ensure provisions support individual learning needs.

About the Role:

As the 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have SEN, providing personalised assistance to enhance their educational experience. You will be instrumental in helping them overcome challenges and succeed in their academic journey.

Responsibilities of a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to meet the needs of each student.
  • Support students in developing social skills, self-confidence and independence.
  • Monitor and record the progress of students, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Work closely with teachers to develop and deliver engaging and effective lesson plans.
  • Assist with classroom management and the organisation of learning activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, promoting the well-being of all students.
  • Participate in school meetings, training sessions and professional development opportunities.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in working as a Learning Support Assistant or similar role on a one-on-one basis.
  • An educational background in education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and supporting their educational journey.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • An understanding of various SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
