ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £75 - £110 per Day
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Sunderland. This is an exciting opportunity to provide essential support to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to thrive in their learning and development.

As an ASD Teaching Assistant in a primary school, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with autism, ensuring they can fully engage with the curriculum in a nurturing and supportive environment tailored to their individual needs.

Responsibilities as a ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary):

  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a primary school setting.
  • Assist the class teacher with creating and implementing personalised learning plans.
  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Help students with their social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Encourage and promote independence and self-confidence in students.
  • Assist in managing behaviour in the classroom in line with school policies.

To be a successful ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary), you need:

  • Experience working with children with ASD in a school setting.
  • A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
