SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £95 - £105 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Working Hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

If so, GSL Education are currently recruiting for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming school in Newham. This full-time, long-term opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking meaningful and rewarding work supporting students with a range of needs, including physical, cognitive, and sensory difficulties.
As an SEN TA, you will play a key role in providing personalised care and educational support, helping pupils access learning and develop confidence and independence. The position includes assisting with personal care tasks such as nappy changing, so a sensitive and supportive approach is essential.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs
- Assist with personal care tasks, including nappy changing and hygiene routines
- Work closely with class teachers to adapt lesson plans to suit individual learners
- Support the physical, emotional, and social development of pupils
- Maintain a positive, nurturing, and structured environment
- Use strategies to manage behaviour positively and effectively
- Monitor and record student progress and communicate regularly with staff and families
- Uphold safeguarding practices and promote student welfare at all times
- Support students with mobility or sensory needs as required
- Collaborate with SENCO and external agencies where necessary
Qualifications needed for SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) role:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN as an SEN Teaching Assistant
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare
- Comfortable and experienced with nappy changing and personal care duties
- Good spoken and written English
- Empathetic, calm, and patient approach to working with children
- Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one
- Eligibility to work in the UK
