SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £95 - £105 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Working Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive school located in Newham. This full-time, long-term opportunity is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about providing individualised support and fostering positive development for students with additional needs.
About the Role:
In this role, you will work closely with three children with varying SEN requirements, providing 1:1 and small group support to help them access the curriculum and thrive within the school environment. The position offers both challenge and reward, and you will be working as part of a warm, collaborative team that prioritises pupil wellbeing and progress.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), your responsibilities will be:
- Provide tailored support to three children with special educational needs throughout the school day
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials and approaches
- Promote social interaction, self-esteem, and independence among students
- Assist with the implementation of EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets
- Encourage positive behaviour and manage any behavioural challenges calmly and effectively
- Support pupils in engaging with classroom activities and accessing their learning
- Monitor and record progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Attend staff training sessions and contribute to planning meetings as needed
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times
What we need from a SEN TA:
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting as an SEN Teaching Assistant
- Ability to support multiple children with different learning and developmental needs
- Good spoken and written English communication skills
- Calm, patient, and adaptable nature
- A commitment to inclusive education and the well-being of all learners
- Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one
- Right to work in the UK
