Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sheffield. This role is ideally suited to individuals who have experience supporting children with additional needs and are dedicated to creating a nurturing and structured learning environment for young learners.
About the Role:
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2 who have a range of special needs, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with SEN in the classroom to help them access the curriculum and reach individual targets.
- Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning programmes and structured interventions.
- Helping pupils develop essential communication, social, and emotional skills through positive reinforcement.
- Working closely with the class teacher to adapt lesson materials and approaches to suit different learning needs.
- Providing additional support during unstructured times such as lunch and play.
- Building trusting relationships with pupils, promoting confidence and independence.
- Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to reports and reviews alongside staff and parents.
Job Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs in a primary school or childcare setting.
- Strong understanding of SEN strategies and a proactive approach to supporting individual needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young children, staff, and parents.
- A nurturing, patient, and resilient personality, with a passion for inclusive education.
- A relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to upholding high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
