Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently inviting applications for the position of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a caring and inclusive school in Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by offering academic, emotional, and behavioural support.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with class teachers and the school’s SENCO to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions to support learning and development.
- Assisting pupils in accessing the curriculum by differentiating materials and offering personalised support.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and behavioural challenges.
- Implementing strategies outlined in Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encouraging their confidence and independence.
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to support student progress.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with SEN, disabilities, or complex needs.
- Understanding of Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs and how to implement effective support strategies.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting individual learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when liaising with staff, pupils, and families.
- A relevant qualification in education, support work, or childcare is advantageous.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
