Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Salary: £12.50 - £14.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide essential care and support to children and young adults who require a safe and nurturing environment.
About the Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting and caring for vulnerable young individuals within a residential care setting. You will work directly with the young people to ensure their emotional, physical, and developmental needs are met, and you will play an active role in supporting their journey toward independence.
Residential Support Worker Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care and support to individuals within a residential setting, ensuring their emotional, physical, and psychological well-being.
- Support young people with a variety of needs, including challenging behaviours, learning disabilities, and emotional distress.
- Create and maintain a positive and safe living environment, promoting a sense of security and belonging for all residents.
- Implement care plans and conduct risk assessments to ensure the needs of each individual are being met in a person-centred manner.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with service users, families, and colleagues, ensuring effective communication at all times.
- Work closely with other members of the care team to provide integrated care that promotes the development of key life skills, such as socialising, learning, and independent living.
- Assist in the delivery of recreational and therapeutic activities, encouraging personal growth and participation in community activities.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of progress, incidents, and interactions, in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation.
- Provide guidance and support to residents in coping with emotions, behavioural challenges, and everyday situations.
The Essential Requirements for Successful Residential Support Worker:
- Experience in residential care or a related field is essential. Previous experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals in a care setting is highly desirable.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification is preferred. If you do not hold this qualification, you must be willing to work towards it.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience to work with individuals with varying degrees of emotional and behavioural challenges.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people in their personal development and well-being.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, ensuring the delivery of care is both collaborative and consistent.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts, as part of the care team’s rota system.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
