Location: Pontefract
Salary: £140 - £190 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Easter Term 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Pontefract from the Easter term 2025. If you have a passion for engaging students in the wonders of science, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in the classroom. This role is open to Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have completed their training placements and are ready to begin their teaching journey.

As a GCSE Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessonsacrossBiology, Chemistry, and Physics. You will help students develop a strong scientific understanding, preparing them for exams while fostering curiosity and a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities of Science Teacher – GCSE:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive science lessons at GCSE level.
  • Differentiate teaching strategies to support students of all abilities.
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, practical experiments, and digital resources to enhance learning.
  • Assess, track, and provide feedback on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Maintain strong classroom management and encourage student engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents to support student success.

Requirements of Science Teacher – GCSE:

  • Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (experience teaching all three at GCSE level is desirable).
  • Experience delivering GCSE Science curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Passion for science and the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Commitment to student progress and academic success.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.

Mandatory information:

  • The successful candidate must hold PGCE in the relevant subject with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS), or equivalent certification.
  • Be able to provide a ten-year career history with relevant reference details covering the last two years, including your most recent place of academic employment.
