SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Southampton
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) for a wonderful opportunity in Southampton. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, with an immediate start available. The successful candidate will join a school committed to providing students with the support they need to succeed academically and emotionally.
About the role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital assistance to students with special educational needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop essential skills. Your efforts will ensure they feel empowered to achieve their personal best in the classroom and beyond.
Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Support students with special educational needs on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Help implement tailored educational plans designed to meet the individual needs of students.
- Assist students in their learning and help them understand classroom tasks and activities.
- Provide guidance and encouragement, fostering students' confidence and self-esteem.
- Work alongside the classroom teacher to support classroom management and behaviour strategies.
- Monitor students' progress and report feedback to the teaching team.
- Ensure students' well-being and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with personal care tasks when required, maintaining students' dignity and independence.
- Foster positive relationships with students, helping them develop social skills and manage emotions.
SEN TA Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in educational settings as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
- Desirable qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistance, or equivalent.
- Any degree in Psychology, Education or in similar field.
- A nurturing and patient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in making a positive impact on students' learning journeys.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
