SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Hayling Island
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school in Hayling Island.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a key role in providing students with the individualised support they need to thrive academically and socially. Your role will involve working with both small groups and individual students, offering guidance and encouragement to help them overcome challenges and develop the skills they need for success.

Responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs in the classroom.
  • Assist students with their learning, ensuring they fully understand and engage with the curriculum.
  • Implement personalised learning plans and support strategies to meet students' individual needs.
  • Help students with personal care if required, maintaining their dignity and independence.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment to build students' confidence and self-esteem.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to develop educational plans.
  • Monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as necessary.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Ensure students' safety and well-being at all times.

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Requirements:

  • Any degree in Psychology, Education or in similar field.
  • Previous experience working with children with special needs as an SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally in a school setting.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistance, or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Good communication skills to engage with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • A genuine interest in supporting inclusive education and helping students achieve their goals.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
