Behaviour Support Assistant (Secondary)
Location:  Portsmouth  
Salary: £83.33 - £95 per day  
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education Portsmouth are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a secondary school in  Portsmouth, where you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome behavioural challenges and thrive in their educational journey.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Provide one-on-one and small group Behaviour Support to students with challenging behaviours.  
  • Develop and implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs.  
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to support positive behaviour in the classroom.  
  • Monitor and record student behaviour, progress, and interventions.  
  • Assist in the development of individual behaviour plans and provide input for reviews.  
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, encouraging positive behaviour and social skills.  
  • Support students during transitions, breaks, and other unstructured times to maintain positive behaviour.  
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to ensure consistent Behaviour Support across the school.  

Requirements:  

  • Experience in a Behaviour Support Assistant role or similar, preferably in a secondary school setting.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students.  
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to handling challenging behaviour.  
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
