SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £12.82-£14.72 per hour
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary) to join a friendly and supportive client primary school in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity as a SEN Teaching Assistant can make a real difference in the lives of young learners, providing vital support to help them succeed as a primary school learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons tailored to children with SEN.
  • Provide one-to-one support to pupils with additional needs, ensuring their learning experience is positive and engaging.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting a calm and focused environment for learning.
  • Support children in small groups, providing guidance and encouragement during activities.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to create individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Assist with any physical, emotional, or social challenges the children may face.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary) or in a similar role.
  • A recognised qualification such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, or NVQ in Teaching Assistance.
  • A patient, caring, and positive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
