I have been with GSL Education for over 6 years now. I am one of the Secondary Consultants here.
Like many, I do not come from an education recruitment background, in-fact I fell into recruitment and it has been a roller-coaster journey!
I originally studied Optical Management at University and joined the Optical retail world after I finished. I quickly grasped the fast pace of the working world. I spent the best part of a decade working for two optical organisations managing stores within London. I then decided that I needed a change but what I wanted to do was the hardest decision to make! In the end, I decided to take a break and go travelling for some time - of course I chose India!
It was the break I needed as it helped me to re-adjust mentally and understand what was important for me, it was time for me to build on other strengths and to invest my efforts in learning new environments. I was introduced to an Education Recruitment Specialist through a family friend and I've never really looked back.
My first experience of education recruitment wasn't as I had envisioned but I didn't want to give up, I just needed to find a supportive employer to help me feel valued and to give me the confidence and drive to succeed. I then joined an independent education specialist where they invested time in training me, giving me the ability to learn many new skills. This allowed me to develop further as a Senior Consultant. I saw a whole new world and built the knowledge I needed to be able to service both candidates and clients and ensuring I understood their needs and expectations. My work ethic developed, I had self-belief and I took pride in my efforts.
My focus changed as I learnt about the education system and the various departments that are involved in school life. From here, I decided it was time to invest and find the 'right' company that has a more personable approach and valued every member of their establishment including all clients and candidates. GSL has grown from strength to strength and this is because they have meaningful core values and deliver exceptional service all year round.
Today, I am proud to say that I am part of the GSL family, and it's been a life changing journey throughout my time here and I look forward to continuing my passion for education with them.
