Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Fareham
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are currently recruiting for a SEN Learning Support to join a supportive and welcoming school in Fareham. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to helping children with additional needs overcome barriers to learning and succeed both academically and socially.
As an SEN Learning Support, you will be supporting students with a range of special educational needs. Working closely with class teachers and SEN coordinators, you will help facilitate a learning environment that is inclusive, structured and responsive to individual student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent, personalised support to students on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Assist with the planning and adaptation of learning activities to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment for students with a range of SEN.
- Promote pupils’ independence, emotional well-being and self-confidence.
- Support students during classroom activities, transitions, break times and other school-based routines.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and SEN specialists to ensure student progress and welfare.
Job Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
- A caring, patient and understanding approach to working with learners who may exhibit challenging behaviour or require additional emotional support.
- Sound knowledge of child development and safeguarding practices.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries with pupils and staff.
- A qualification in supporting teaching and learning or child care (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.
- Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD, etc.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
