SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £95 - £105 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Working Hours: 8:30 am – 4.30 pm
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Newham. This full-time role offers an immediate start and presents a fantastic opportunity for individuals seeking long-term stability in a rewarding setting.

About the Role:

As an SEN TA, you will work closely with students requiring additional support to access the curriculum and thrive within a mainstream classroom. The ideal candidate will be someone who is confident, patient, and passionate about education, particularly supporting learners with diverse needs including Autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties. This is a fulfilling role that will allow you to contribute meaningfully to a student’s academic and personal development.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support to students with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of EHCPs and IEPs
  • Support classroom routines and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assist pupils in developing social skills and academic confidence
  • Provide support with personal care when required
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment
  • Uphold school policies, particularly in safeguarding and inclusion

SEN TA Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN as an SEN Teaching Assistant or similar
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • A caring, patient, and resilient nature
  • Willingness to support pupils with a variety of learning and behavioural needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
