Step into a role where your support goes beyond the school gates – and changes lives every day.

GSL Education are seeking a Specialist SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to join a caring, creative, and community-driven school in High Peak. This isn’t just a classroom-based role – it's a chance to be part of a journey that supports the whole child. If you're passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs thrive – and you’ve got a driving licence – this could be your perfect match.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be a steady hand and kind guide for pupils with diverse needs, including autism, ADHD, and communication challenges.
  • Bring learning to life with one-to-one and small group sessions, carefully tailored to each student's unique education plan.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to help shape inclusive, accessible lessons that every pupil can take part in and enjoy.
  • Champion emotional wellbeing — offer encouragement, empathy, and a calm presence to help students grow socially and confidently.
  • Lend a hand with personal care when needed, always promoting dignity and fostering independence along the way.
  • Use your driving skills to take learning beyond the classroom — from life-skills trips to hands-on experiences that build real-world confidence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting SEN pupils in primary settings.
  • Confident working with needs like autism, ADHD, and speech or emotional challenges.
  • Skilled in one-to-one and group support, with flexible teaching approaches.
  • Calm, caring, and passionate about helping children thrive.
  • Able to manage behaviour positively and constructively.
  • Great communicator with staff, families, and professionals.
  • Adaptable across varied learning environments.
  • Comfortable assisting with personal care if needed.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential for off-site learning.
  • SEN or education qualifications welcome but not required.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive daily pay rates and flexible working opportunities.
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.
  • Access to CPD training and professional development opportunities.
  • A fantastic opportunity to gain valuable school-based experience, ideal for those considering a teaching career.
