Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Strategies: Assist in the development and implementation of support plans, creating strategies and interventions uniquely designed for each student’s needs.
  • Provide Direct Support: Offer one-on-one and small group support to students with learning difficulties, helping them understand and manage their challenges with your guidance and support.
  • Monitor and Record Progress: Regularly observe and record students’ progress, ensuring they are making strides towards their goals and celebrating their achievements.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Participate in meetings and discussions, sharing your insights and strategies to support each student’s academic and personal growth.
  • Promote Inclusivity: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and included.
  • Engage and Motivate Students: Use a variety of support techniques to engage and inspire students, making learning an exciting journey.
  • Maintain Communication: Keep accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant Experience: Prior experience in a similar role is essential, showcasing your understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students with learning difficulties.
  • Effective Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Patience and Empathy: A genuine passion for supporting students with learning difficulties, exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or training in disability support (desirable but not essential).

To work with GSL Education as a Disability Support Assistant, you will need:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
