Learning Support Assistant
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: Immediate / September 2025 start
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (Part-time available for the right candidate)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a friendly and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-resourced school that values the contribution of support staff and promotes student growth and achievement.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students in the classroom, ensuring they remain engaged, focused, and able to access the curriculum. SEN experience is desirable and will be considered a bonus.
LSA Responsibilities:
- Support students in accessing the curriculum in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Work 1:1 and with small groups to assist pupils with varying academic abilities.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to support students with additional needs.
- Assist in the development of resources and classroom strategies.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.
Requirements for Learning Support Assistant:
- Experience working in an educational or youth support setting as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or similar role.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or similar field.
- SEN experience is highly desirable.
- A calm, confident, and patient manner
- Ability to build positive working relationships with students and staff.
- A proactive and flexible attitude towards supporting learning.
- A valid enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
