Geography Subject Lead
Location: Hackney
Salary: £200 - £300 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025

GSL Education are thrilled to be recruiting for an experienced and passionate Geography Subject Lead to join a thriving secondary school in Hackney. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic educator to lead a committed Humanities team, enhance curriculum delivery, and drive academic excellence in Geography.

Responsibilities of the Geography Subject Lead:

  • Lead the Geography department, overseeing curriculum planning, teaching, and assessment strategies.
  • Deliver outstanding lessons across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 if applicable), inspiring a love for Geography.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement.
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers, fostering professional development and collaboration.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and work closely with senior leadership on department goals.
  • Stay updated with current educational trends and ensure best practices in Geography teaching.

Skills & Qualification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Geography in UK secondary schools.
  • Proven leadership or middle management experience within a Humanities or Geography department.
  • Deep subject knowledge and a passion for promoting global awareness.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion, student success, and continuous school improvement.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
