Job Title: ECT Sociology Teacher
Location: Redbridge
Salary Range: £165 - £265 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025

GSL Education are delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking school in Redbridge in their search for a dedicated ECT Sociology Teacher to join their Humanities team from September 2025 on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop professionally in a school that values creativity, rigour, and student-centred learning.
About the Role
This is a fantastic role for a passionate ECT looking to kick-start their teaching career. You will be teaching Sociology across KS4 and KS5, supporting students to develop their understanding of key sociological concepts and encouraging critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that stimulate critical thinking and debate.
- Plan and assess Sociology lessons in line with the GCSE and A-Level curriculum.
- Create an inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
- Track progress and use data to inform teaching strategies.
- Participate fully in department planning and whole-school CPD initiatives.
- Contribute positively to students’ academic progress and overall well-being.
Job Requirements:
- A qualified teacher status (QTS) with a specialisation or a degree in Sociology or a closely related field.
- Proven experience teaching Sociology across the schools of the UK.
- Sound knowledge of the AQA/Edexcel Sociology curriculum is highly desirable.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Strong commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
