Job Title: Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant
Location: High Peak
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

If so, GSL Education seeks a compassionate and proactive Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a caring and inclusive school environment. Based in High Peak, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students who require additional support to thrive academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Help students develop emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills.
  • Assist teachers in adapting lessons and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, external professionals, and families to support learning plans.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all students.
  • Be flexible in travelling between school sites or provisions if required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEMH needs in a primary or SEN setting.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A nurturing, resilient, and calm approach to challenges.
  • A commitment to helping all students achieve their full potential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
