Job Title: Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Are you an experienced and empathetic individual ready to support primary school students with SEMH needs?
If so, GSL Education are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and committed Primary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a nurturing school environment in Chesterfield.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to pupils with SEMH.
- Foster emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills through structured support.
- Work closely with classroom teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Assist in adapting resources and lessons to meet individual needs.
- Implement behaviour support plans and promote a calm, inclusive learning space.
- Travel between school sites or to off-site provision as needed.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs in a primary setting.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A caring, patient, and resilient nature.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young learners.
- Confident in de-escalating behaviour and encouraging self-expression.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
