Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Dibden Purlieu
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a vibrant and inclusive school located in Dibden Purlieu. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the academic and personal development of pupils who require additional support.

About the Role:

As an SEN TA, you will be working under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO, providing tailored support to students with diverse needs, such as autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, or SEMH challenges. Your role will involve promoting engagement, emotional regulation, and inclusive participation in the classroom.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning of individuals and small groups of pupils with identified SEND.
  • Implement targeted interventions to assist with literacy, numeracy, and communication.
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships that help pupils build confidence and independence.
  • Monitor student progress and feedback to staff and parents.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide behaviour support using restorative and de-escalation strategies where necessary.

Assist with personal care or physical support tasks in line with individual pupil plans.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SLCN and SEMH needs, as well as strategies for supporting students with these conditions.
  • Additional training in Moving and Handling, Team Teach, or Trauma-Informed Practice is advantageous but not essential.
  • Be familiar with positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
