Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Hedge End
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
GSL Education are delighted to offer an opening for a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) in a welcoming and well-resourced school located in Hedge End. This role is ideal for someone committed to inclusion and dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
About the Role:
This role will involve working closely with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and SEMH needs. Your support will help foster independence, build confidence, and enable access to the full curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted support to individual pupils or small groups under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.
- Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans.
- Encourage pupil engagement, emotional regulation, and appropriate social interaction.
- Support students both inside and outside the classroom setting.
- Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet diverse needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to staff and parents as required.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in an SEN or mainstream educational setting (desirable).
- Relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
- Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
