Job Title: Pupil SEN Support
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: Immediate or After Summer 2025 start
Contract: Full-time, permanent
GSL Education are offering a rewarding opportunity for a Pupil SEN Support to join a nurturing mainstream primary school in Southampton, Hampshire. This full-time, permanent role is available for an immediate or after-summer start and is perfectly suited for those with a keen interest in SEN education, including university students seeking meaningful school-based experience.
About the Role:
This role focuses on providing dedicated support to pupils with additional needs, helping them thrive within the mainstream classroom. Working in partnership with teachers and SEN staff, you’ll help tailor learning experiences, offer emotional and academic guidance, and promote inclusion across the school day.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one or small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Support the implementation of EHCPs and other tailored learning programmes.
- Aid with behaviour regulation, engagement, and communication.
- Encourage independence, motivation and self-esteem in all activities.
- Maintain a calm, caring, and patient approach at all times.
- Liaise with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to track progress.
- Help pupils access the curriculum and make academic and social progress.
Job Requirements:
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting.
- Previous experience with SEN is desirable, particularly within a school or care environment.
- Resilient, patient, and adaptable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Suitable for university students pursuing degrees in Education, Psychology, Social Care or related fields.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
