Sports Coach – KS3 to KS4
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £94 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day / Long-term, Part-time / Full-time

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and energetic Sports Coach to support secondary schools across Barnsley, working with students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a background in sports or coaching who are looking to make a real impact in the classroom and on the field.

About the Role:
As a Sports Coach, you will support PE departments with the delivery of lessons, organise and lead physical activities, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle among students. You will also work closely with teaching staff to manage behaviour and engage learners in both practical and classroom-based settings.

Key Responsibilities of a Sports Coach:

  • Assist in delivering high-quality PE lessons and sports sessions.

  • Encourage active participation and teamwork during lessons and extra-curricular activities.

  • Support classroom learning when required across a range of subjects.

  • Motivate and inspire students to develop their physical and mental wellbeing.

  • Help manage behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Support students with additional needs or behavioural challenges.

Requirements of a Sports Coach:

  • A background in Sports Coaching, Physical Education, or a related field.

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or coaching setting.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Confidence to lead groups and manage behaviour effectively.

  • A proactive, positive, and adaptable approach.

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

  • An up-to-date CV with two references from the last two years.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
