Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Hayling Island
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are currently recruiting for an SEN Learning Support to join a welcoming and inclusive school setting in Hayling Island. This is a fulfilling opportunity to work alongside experienced educators in helping children with special educational needs develop their full potential.
About the Role:
As an SEN Learning Support, you will provide tailored academic, emotional and behavioural support to pupils with a variety of needs such as ASD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and other learning challenges. Your role will be pivotal in nurturing a safe and inclusive learning environment that celebrates every child’s progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and within small groups, ensuring access to the curriculum.
- Implement strategies that enhance social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCo to adapt lesson content and approaches.
- Encourage independence and confidence in pupils by promoting active participation.
- Keep accurate records of progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and school behavioural policies.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or alternative educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A proactive and patient approach, with the ability to adapt to different learning needs.
- A solid understanding of safeguarding policies within an educational setting.
- Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
