Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Waterlooville
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are delighted to be recruiting for SEN Learning Support in Waterlooville. This is an exciting opportunity to join a nurturing and progressive school that provides tailored support to pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
About the Role:
As an SEN Learning Support, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, communication and independence. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support team, you will provide personalised interventions and build strong relationships that encourage positive educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to support pupils with a range of SEN.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of students.
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour management using positive strategies.
- Contribute to the creation of an inclusive and respectful classroom environment.
- Collaborate with staff and families to ensure consistent and effective support.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SEN leadership.
Job Requirements:
- A recognised qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in an educational setting.
- An understanding of different learning difficulties and the strategies used to support them.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- A patient, adaptable and proactive approach to working with children who have additional needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices within an educational setting.
- Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
