Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £190 - £220 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Science Teacher to join a highly supportive SEMH provision in Chesterfield.

This rewarding role is ideal for a teacher who can deliver engaging science lessons while building strong, positive relationships with pupils who may face behavioural or emotional challenges. The successful candidate must be confident working in a structured, therapeutic environment and have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

As a Teacher of Science, your responsibilities will be:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and differentiated Science lessons across Key Stages.
  • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning due to SEMH needs.
  • Manage classroom behaviour with empathy and firm boundaries.
  • Work closely with support staff and external agencies to promote pupil progress.
  • Track student achievement and provide feedback to staff and families.
  • Deliver practical science activities that engage and motivate learners.
  • Foster resilience, confidence, and independence in pupils.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and therapeutic ethos.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and reviews as required.

Science Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Science, ideally within an SEMH or SEND setting.
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and inclusive teaching.
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
  • Full-time availability (Monday to Friday).
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
