Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Eastleigh
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Eastleigh. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact in the lives of young learners with diverse needs.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will be part of a committed team working collaboratively to ensure all pupils have access to a meaningful and inclusive education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to pupils’ learning and behavioural needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and ensuring a positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Support pupils with personal care tasks, mobility, or communication where necessary.
  • Promote pupil independence and social integration within the school environment.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to individual learning plans and reports.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to deliver targeted interventions.

Job Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
  • Experience working in a school or SEN setting is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with SEN.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
