Full – Time Secondary Welfare Support Assistant – Fareham, Hampshire

GSL Education are currently seeking a full-time Welfare Support Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Fareham. This meaningful role begins immediately, term-time only schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, and offers a beautifully competitive annual salary ranging from £21,500 to £24,500, depending on experience. Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across the school.
  • Being part of the on-call welfare team, helping to de-escalate and support students in need.
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral leaders to implement positive interventions.
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing and providing students with a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to students’ progress and development plans.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a relevant field such as youth work, social care, pastoral care, or similar.
  • Empathy, patience, and a strong ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • A proactive, resilient approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
