GSL Education are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for a Classroom Nursing Assistant to join a dedicated team at a specialist school in Christchurch. This is a full-time, permanent position, ideal for candidates with medical or care experience who are eager to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners with additional needs.

About the Role:

As a Classroom Nursing Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, healthcare professionals, and support teams to ensure pupils with medical or complex learning needs are well cared for and supported throughout their school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and supervision to pupils with health and medical requirements during the school day.
  • Support pupils with personal care, hygiene, and feeding routines, where necessary.
  • Administer or assist with medication, following individual care plans and training.
  • Assist pupils in accessing learning by providing 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to ensure pupils’ safety, dignity, and progress.
  • Monitor pupils' physical well-being and report concerns promptly to appropriate staff.
  • Promote a calm, supportive atmosphere that enhances learning and development.
  • Follow safeguarding and health and safety policies at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a healthcare, nursing, SEN, or care setting, preferably with children or young people.
  • Basic medical knowledge and confidence in supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to care and support.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans, risk assessments, and school policies effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in health & social care, childcare, or nursing are highly desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
