GSL Education are pleased to present a rewarding opportunity for an Educational Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive school environment in Bournemouth. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for individuals with a strong passion for helping young learners overcome barriers to learning, both academically and emotionally.
About the Role:
As an Educational Support Worker, you will play a key role in assisting pupils with special educational needs and/or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You’ll work closely with class teachers and support staff to provide one-to-one and small-group interventions, helping children remain engaged, safe, and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class and out-of-class support to pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties or behavioural needs.
- Implement tailored support plans that promote positive behaviour, engagement, and progress.
- Support students in developing emotional resilience, social skills, and independence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to create a nurturing learning environment.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Assist with sensory or mobility needs, where required.
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and contribute to the overall welfare of pupils.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or SEN setting.
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach to individual student needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
- Qualifications in education, health and social care, or psychology are desirable but not essential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
Benefits of Joining GSL Education:
- Competitive hourly pay of £13.68 - £16.12, depending on experience.
- Support from a dedicated education consultant who understands your needs.
- A chance to work in a rewarding role where no two days are the same.
- Opportunities for career progression in SEN and education support.
If you’re ready to support and inspire students in a setting that values inclusion and care, we welcome your application.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
