GSL Education are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join a dynamic and supportive team in Wareham. This full-time, permanent position allows you to provide crucial support to students with special educational needs (SEN) and other complex needs, helping them to thrive in an educational setting.
About the Role:
As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing tailored support to students with a range of additional needs. Your role will involve supporting students in and out of the classroom, ensuring that they have the resources and guidance they need to participate fully in their education.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with a variety of additional needs.
- Assist with personal care needs, including mobility, feeding, and hygiene, while maintaining students’ dignity and independence.
- Help students access the curriculum by supporting their learning and engagement in classroom activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and social skills, helping students to develop confidence and self-esteem.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement individual learning plans and support strategies.
- Report any concerns about students’ well-being or progress to appropriate staff.
- Ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed and that student's safety and welfare are always prioritised.
- Maintain accurate records of support provided, as well as students' progress and development.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably with children or young people with additional needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students who may require extra care and support.
- The ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and professionally.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- An understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Relevant qualifications in health and social care or education would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
