About the Role
As a Special Needs Care Worker, you will work directly with students who have a range of special educational needs, providing personal care, support, and encouragement throughout their school day. Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and support to students with a variety of special needs.
  • Assist with mobility, feeding, and hygiene tasks as required, ensuring students' dignity and well-being at all times.
  • Support students in the classroom, assisting with their learning and enabling them to participate in activities alongside their peers.
  • Develop positive relationships with students, offering emotional support and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Work alongside teaching staff and other professionals to implement individual care plans and support strategies.
  • Monitor students’ progress and report any concerns regarding their health, behaviour, or well-being to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure all safeguarding protocols are followed and contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ needs and the support provided.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a care or support role, ideally with children or young people with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with vulnerable students.
  • Ability to assist with personal care tasks and respond to the specific needs of students in a respectful and empathetic manner.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Relevant qualifications in care, education, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
