GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a dedicated and nurturing school in Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled teacher who is enthusiastic about helping young people with complex learning needs thrive both academically and personally.

About The Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and adapting lessons that meet the needs of pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and delivering differentiated lessons to cater to a range of learning styles and SEN profiles.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports emotional and academic development.
  • Managing a team of Teaching Assistants to support the learning and welfare of pupils.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil records, and contributing to EHCP reviews and progress reports.
  • Collaborating with external specialists, families, and school staff to support holistic development.
  • Implementing positive behaviour strategies in line with school policy.
  • Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on pupils’ progress against personalised goals.

The successful candidate will:

  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with relevant experience teaching pupils with SEN.
  • Prior experience teaching in a specialist or inclusive mainstream environment.
  • In-depth understanding of SEN, particularly autism, communication needs, and emotional regulation.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach, able to adapt to dynamic classroom needs.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, and promoting the well-being of all pupils.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
