SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hayling Island
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Hayling Island.
As a SEN TA, you will provide essential support to students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to engage with their studies and develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether you are looking for a day-to-day role or a long-term placement, we offer flexible opportunities that suit your needs.
Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including learning difficulties, autism, and ADHD.
- Assist in implementing tailored learning plans and strategies that cater to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Encourage students to actively participate in lessons and engage with their studies.
- Support students' social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and well-being.
- Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
- Help prepare classroom resources and assist with classroom management.
- Provide pastoral support, ensuring students feel safe, valued, and confident in their learning environment.
- Promote the development of independent learning skills, offering encouragement and guidance where appropriate.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to create a supportive educational community.
Qualifications for SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant, especially working with students with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
- A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new check.
