SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Waterlooville
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support students across schools in Waterlooville.

In this role, you will provide tailored support to students with various special educational needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources they need to reach their full potential. SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group support to students with special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist in implementing and adapting individual education plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to ensure effective support for all students.
  • Support students' engagement in classroom activities and encourage their active participation in lessons.
  • Help foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and motivated to learn.
  • Support students’ social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviours and coping strategies.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of resources and lesson activities, ensuring all students are included and engaged.
  • Promote independent learning, offering guidance and encouragement when necessary.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students to ensure they feel valued and understood.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant, particularly supporting students with special educational needs.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
  • A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach when supporting students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new check.
