SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Havant
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate

If so, GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support students across schools in Havant.

In this role, you will help create an inclusive classroom environment by providing tailored support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. Whether you are looking for a flexible day-to-day position or a more long-term role, we have opportunities to suit you.

Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs, including learning difficulties, Autism, and ADHD.
  • Assist in delivering individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapting learning activities to meet students’ needs.
  • Support students with social, emotional, and personal development, encouraging independence and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to support learning in the classroom.
  • Monitor and track students’ progress, offering feedback to the teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies and assist students in their social and emotional development.
  • Help create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Assist in the preparation of resources and materials for lessons.
  • Encourage students to engage with their learning and build on their strengths.
  • Contribute to the general classroom management and organisation.

Qualifications for SEN TA:

  • Experience in a teaching assistant or support role, particularly with students who have special educational needs.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable).
  • A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, or willingness to apply.
