SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Gosport
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Full-time / Part-time

If so, GSL Education are seeking a motivated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join schools across Gosport. Whether you are looking for day-to-day supply or a longer-term position, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with additional needs.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require extra support, including those with Autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties. You will collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to create a tailored approach that helps students access the curriculum and excel in their studies.
Your Responsibilities as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs.
- Assist students in developing social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Support class teachers in delivering differentiated lessons and activities.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.
- Promote positive behaviour and support behaviour management strategies.
- Help foster a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Adapt and modify learning materials to cater to individual needs.
- Assist in the development of individual education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Work closely with external professionals, including educational psychologists and speech therapists.
- Provide pastoral care and support to students, encouraging self-esteem and confidence.
SEN TA Requirements:
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in an SEN or classroom setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach.
- A genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs.
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
