SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Fareham
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are excited to offer an opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work across schools in Fareham. This role provides the chance to make a lasting impact on students’ academic and personal development by providing tailored support to those with special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
In this role, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to ensure that students have the tools and encouragement they need to thrive in a classroom environment. Whether you’re looking for a day-to-day role or a more long-term placement, GSL Education has the flexibility to suit your needs.
As a SEN TA, what you’ll have to do:
- Provide 1:1 and group support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum.
- Assist in the development and delivery of personalised learning plans (IEPs).
- Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt and differentiate classroom activities.
- Monitor and record students’ academic progress and communicate effectively with the teaching team.
- Promote positive behaviour management and help students with self-regulation.
- Assist students with social, emotional, and personal development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Support students in developing confidence and independence in their learning.
- Provide pastoral care and be a source of encouragement and support.
- Work closely with the school’s leadership team and other external agencies when necessary.
What we need from a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Experience in a teaching assistant or support role, ideally with students who have special educational needs.
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable).
- A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach to working with children.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
