Job Title: SEN Support
Location: Portland  
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are excited to invite applications from compassionate and dedicated individuals for the role of SEN Support at a friendly and supportive school in Portland.

About the Role:

In this rewarding role, you will support students with a variety of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Working closely with teachers and SEN specialists, you will ensure students feel supported, safe, and able to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group support within and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Empower students to develop self-confidence and independent learning skills.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom activities, ensuring all students are fully engaged.
  • Employ strategies to promote positive behaviour and manage challenges effectively.
  • Assist in delivering engaging lessons that cater to individual learning requirements.
  • Foster a supportive atmosphere to encourage student participation and independence.

Monitor and report on student progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for improvement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in an educational setting, is an advantage.
  • Additional qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of various learning difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD and speech and language needs.
  • A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff and families.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners.

To Work with GSL Education as an SEN Support, You Must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one through GSL Education.
