About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You will play a key role in encouraging independence, fostering communication, and helping children navigate the school environment with confidence and care.
Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:
- Provide tailored support to children with autism across various age groups.
- Promote emotional well-being, social interaction, and academic engagement.
- Use a calm, consistent, and positive approach to behaviour management.
- Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and support strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver a holistic support system.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Previous experience as an Autism Support Worker in a school or similar role is preferred.
- Understanding of autism spectrum conditions and effective support strategies.
- Great communication and people skills.
- Training in Autism Awareness, Team Teach, or Makaton (desirable but not essential).
- Background in SEN education, psychology, youth work, or care support.
- Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
