Location: Poole
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and patient Autism Support Worker for schools based in Poole. This rewarding role involves working closely with children on the autism spectrum condition (ASC), providing individualised support to help them access the curriculum and develop both socially and emotionally. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment, working collaboratively with teachers and SEN professionals.
Your Responsibilities as an Autism Support Worker (ASC):
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with autism.
- Assist with the development of personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
- Support pupils in building their communication, social, and emotional skills.
- Create a calm and structured environment that supports positive learning outcomes.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to monitor progress and adapt strategies.
- Encourage independence while providing guidance and reassurance.
- Promote understanding and acceptance of autism within the classroom and wider school community.
To be an Autism Support Worker, what you need to have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism in an educational or care setting.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable).
- A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
- Understanding of Autism and SEN learning needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding practices.

- Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
