Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Salary: £93 - £140 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Easter 2025/ September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are seeking a committed and flexible Substitute Teacher to support a group of welcoming and inclusive schools in Christchurch. This is an ideal opportunity for teachers who enjoy variety in their day-to-day work, as you’ll be stepping into different classrooms and covering a range of subjects and year groups.

Your role will be to maintain a positive learning environment and ensure that students stay on track when their regular teacher is unavailable. Whether you're an experienced teacher or looking to gain more classroom experience, this position offers a rewarding way to support students and make a real difference in their education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects and year groups in secondary school settings.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment.
  • Support students in their academic development, helping them engage with lessons and progress in their studies.
  • Provide feedback to school staff regarding student progress, participation, and classroom behaviour.
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom settings, maintaining a high standard of teaching throughout.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in teaching or classroom management is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to working in diverse secondary school environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • University students with a passion for teaching and learning are encouraged to get involved.
  • Provide an up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, including an explanation for any gaps in employment.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
