Job Title: SEN Teacher
Location: Canterbury
Salary: £140 - £250 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a supportive and welcoming school in Canterbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by providing them with the guidance, encouragement, and tailored education they need to succeed.

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment. Your expertise and commitment will help students develop essential skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential. This role requires patience, creativity, and a strong understanding of how to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN, ensuring they can access learning effectively.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, helping students to overcome challenges and progress in their education.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and supported.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, parents, and external professionals to provide holistic support to students.
  • Encourage students to develop independence, social skills, and confidence in their abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting teaching strategies as needed.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience working with students with SEN in a school setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to teaching, with a commitment to helping students succeed.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years, with no unexplained gaps.
  • An enhanced DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
