Full-time Humanities Teacher– Portsmouth, Hampshire

GSL Education are searching for an exceptional Humanities Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire, to join their team in September 2025. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from £30,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is ideal for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) eager to make an impact in a supportive learning environment.
About the Role:
As a Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and insightful lessons in subjects such as History, Geography, or Religious Studies, depending on your specialism. You will inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and help students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in History, Geography, or Religious Studies that inspire and challenge students.
- Foster a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and critical analysis.
- Assess, record and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to aid development.
- Differentiate lesson content to cater to varying learning abilities and educational needs.
- Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, field trips, or academic projects.
- Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and engagement, in line with school policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the Humanities curriculum.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching Humanities subjects (History, Geography, or Religious Studies) at secondary level.
- A strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to differentiate teaching methods for diverse learners.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
