Full-time Food Technology Teacher– Basingstoke, Hampshire
Are you a passionate and creative Food Technology Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a reputable secondary school in Basingstoke, Hampshire, to join their team in September 2025. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from £30,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is open to experienced teachers as well as Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to develop their skills in a supportive environment.
About the Role:
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will take on full teaching responsibilities, including lesson planning, assessments, report writing, and attending parents' evenings. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical lessons that develop students’ skills in nutrition, food preparation, and culinary techniques, ensuring they understand the importance of healthy eating and food science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver fun and engaging lessons in Food Technology.
- Teach students about food preparation, nutrition and hygiene.
- Ensure that all cooking activities follow health and safety guidelines.
- Assess students' progress and provide support where needed.
- Work closely with other teachers to improve the curriculum.
- Encourage creativity and independence in practical lessons.
Job Requirements:
- A qualified teacher status (QTS) specialisation in Food Technology or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Food Technology at the secondary level, including GCSE and/or vocational qualifications.
- Strong subject knowledge in nutrition, food preparation and health & safety regulations.
- A passion for practical learning, with the ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
- Experience teaching Food Technology at the secondary school level (ECTs are welcome to apply).
- Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
