SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Portland
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent

GSL Education are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join schools in Portland.

In this SEN TA role, you will provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs, ensuring they receive the assistance required to access the curriculum and develop essential skills. Your role will be crucial in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Encourage students to engage in classroom activities and develop confidence in their learning.
  • Support the teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring that learning materials are accessible.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being among students.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to meet students' needs.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
  • Foster independence and life skills development while offering necessary guidance.

Special Needs TA Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
  • A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education or a similar field.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
